• What is Bottle Cap?

    Bottle Cap provides text messaging and online programs that may help you to reduce or stop alcohol drinking. We offer two 8-week programs to choose from: the Messaging Only program, and the Coaching plus Messaging program. The Messaging Only program provides you with daily text messages for support. The Coaching plus Messaging program pairs you with a personal coach for individual sessions and chat, along with text messaging support.
  • How do I know if Bottle Cap is right for me?

    Bottle Cap is designed for adults over the age of 21 who are drinking at mild to moderate levels but not experiencing serious physical symptoms, such as shakes, tremors, seizures, or severe anxiety after 18 or more hours from their last drink. These are signs of alcohol withdrawal and require immediate medical attention. Bottle Cap is also not for women who are breastfeeding or pregnant or may become pregnant. If this may be the case for you, we’re here to help find the right support, so feel free to contact us.
  • What happens after I sign up for Bottle Cap?

    You’ll complete a personalization survey that will help tailor your text messages to your needs. This survey takes about 5 minutes to complete. This survey will always be available in your dashboard, so you may tailor your messages whenever things change. Your messages will start the day after you complete your first survey.

    If you choose the coaching program, your coach will schedule your first appointment, and you’ll have up to 6 sessions over 8 weeks as well as unlimited chat messaging with your coach.

    Once you finish the Bottle Cap program, we’ll guide you to the next steps on your journey to reduce drinking. Remember, you can also stop the program at any time.
  • What if my drinking gets worse while I’m in Bottle Cap?

    Although our programs have been shown to be effective, we cannot guarantee that they will work for you. But we’re here to help. We encourage our clients to contact us with concerns and/or questions at any time. We may choose to do the same based on how we think you’re doing. We’re dedicated to providing you with the support that you need.
  • Is the information I provide about myself private?

    Bottle Cap fully complies with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), so we take specific measures to keep your information private. Information that identifies you is only available to the Bottle Cap team, unless you choose to share information with another party. Even if you learn about us from your employer, your personal and drinking information will not be shared.
  • Do I need my own phone to participate?

    Yes, you will need your own phone in order to receive text messages.
  • What device can I use?

    A phone is all you need to participate, but you may find a computer helpful if you choose to participate in video coaching sessions.
  • Do I need to download an app?

    No need. Bottle Cap is accessible on your mobile or computer browser.
